Sanya (三亞) is situated on the southernmost tip of Hainan Province, lying between 1809′ and 1837′ latitude giving it the tropical monsoon climate of this region. Covering an area of 1919.58 square kilometers (about 741 square miles) with 209.1 kilometers (about 130 miles) long coastline, Sanya has many natural advantages. Possessing a number of excellent harbors, Sanya is an important port for import and export of trade with foreign countries. Therefore, Sanya is also named the 'South Gate of China' to stress its importance while it plays a vital role in the life of the southern part of China in areas of the economy and politics to transportation.

Sanya, at the southernmost tipof Hainan Island, is becoming the most popular destinations for vacationers from both China and the world. A coastal city with the tropical scenery, Sanya is like a pearl on a piece of green jade, the Hainan Island.

Sanya is a busy port and tourist resort on the southern tip of Hainan Island. It has an area of 1,887 square kilometers, and a population of 3.8 million.

The northern part of Sanya are mountains, the southern part are plains. It has a tropical monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of 25.4oC. Annual rainfall averages 1,450 millimeters.

Sanya is rich in forest and water resources. Mineral deposits include quartz, limestone, iron, and phosphorus.

Industries include sugar refining, salt making, shipbuilding, and electronics. The chief farm products are rice, sugarcane, rubber, piper, and timber. Sanya also has many seafood, including shark's fins, abalone, and sea cucumbers.

Sanya is a hub of transportation in the southern area of Hainan Island. Sanya Port connects Sanya with Guangzhou, Beihai, and Shenzhen.

Sanya lies on a peninsula with beautiful beaches and charming scenery. The region's premier tourist attractions include Dadonghai, Tianya Haijiao, and the yalong Gulf. The famous products are mackerel , red snapper, sea cucumbers, sea horses, pearls, shark's fins, abalone, edible bird's nests, and agalloch eaglewood.

Sanya Nightlife

Owning to Sanya's tropical climate, most of the locals' activities takes place after dusk. Therefore, experiencing Sanya's nightlife is the best way for you to participate in the local life. There are nightclubs where you could feel the vigor of this newly emerged tourist city. Generally, these clubs are in star-rated hotels.
